Are the blood tests painful? That's understandable. For the Hepatitis B, C, HIV and Syphilis tests there is only one method to test yourself; from a blood sample. Each kit provides a lancet which is a small sterile needle. It is not designed to draw blood but simply prick the skin. Many find that the thumb is less sensitive than the finger tips and prefer to make a prick there. The sides of the thumb are not painful to prick for many and are not too difficult to draw the few drops required for the blood sample. The sensation is not much more than that of a mosquito bite. The prick itself only need be about 1/8 of an inch deep.
